The Braun Series 9 Pro is an upgraded version of the popular Braun Series 9 shavers. Braun decided to release a new series, but they kept the Series 9 name, as it had already become a benchmark in the market. The brand claims the Braun Series 9 Pro is the world’s most advanced shaver segment for achieving close, comfortable, and versatile shaves with a premium feel. However, it has a very high price tag that discourages many shaving enthusiasts. I tested some models of this series for a few months and decided to share my practical experience, which will help you determine whether it is worth the price.

All the Braun Series 9 Pro shavers have the same technology and shape. There are only minor differences between them, which I will mention below when I explore the insights, personal experience, and unboxing.
Insights
Let’s take a closer look at the Braun Series 9 Pro shaver’s insights to understand their built quality and facilities.
Powerful AutoSense Motor: The Braun Series 9 Pro shavers have a powerful motor that uses sonic technology. The sonic technology motor creates 10,000 micro-vibrations per minute that produce 40,000 cross-cutting actions for a fast and close shave. The shaver also has an auto-sense technology that reads the beard density and adjusts the shaving power accordingly.
Pro Shaving Elements: The Braun Series 9 Pro shavers have five shaving elements (four cutting elements) like regular Series 9, but they have some improved technology for better shaving performance. Braun replaced the regular ActiveLift trimmer with a ProLift trimmer element that can easily capture and cut long and flat-lying hairs. Braun claims that their Series 9 Pro shavers can handle a five to seven-day beard, which was not possible with foil shavers before, and the ProLift trimmer is responsible for that. The shaver also has two regular OptiFoil elements, one Direct & Cut trimmer element, and one metal skin guard element. The OptiFoil elements cut the hair close to the skin, the Direct & Cut trimmer element deals with stubborn and messy hairs, and the SkinGuard element reduces the pressure on the skin while shaving.
Flexible Head: The Braun Series 9 Pro shavers have a smooth and flexible head. The shavers have a 10-D flexible head that can bend and adjust to the contours of the face for a flawless and comfortable shave. To clarify, the head itself can move in six directions: left, right, up, down, back, and forth. The shaving elements can also tilt up and down independently.
Multi-headlock: Since the Braun Series 9 Pro shavers have a very flexible head, shaving off stubborn hairs in tricky areas may be difficult. That is why Braun added a five-direction headlock technology to the Series 9 and Series 9 Pro shavers. There is a button above the power button that controls the headlock. If you slide down the headlock button, it will lock the head at your chosen angle for precision shaving. To unlock the head, you need to slide up the button to its original position.
Wet/dry and Waterproof Shaver: The Braun Series 9 and Series 9 Pro shavers are suitable for wet and dry shaving and are even recommended for the best wet and dry shaving experience. You can choose your preferred shaving method without any worry. The shavers are also 100% waterproof, so you can easily rinse them for a quick and thorough cleaning. Moreover, you can shave in the shower, as the shavers will not have any problems with water since they are waterproof and designed for wet and dry shaving.
Battery and Power: The Series 9 Pro shavers are designed for cordless shaving and have a long-lasting battery life thanks to their biggest lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The shaver can run for 60 minutes without a cord after a full charge of 60 minutes. It also has a quick charge feature that gives you enough power for a full shave after a 5-minute charge. It’s useful if you forget to recharge your shaver and need a quick shave.
LED Display: The shavers have an advanced LED display that shows various information, such as battery level, hygiene status, charging status, replacement head status, and travel lock status. I observed the LED display enhances the shaver’s appearance with its digital interface and useful information.
Pro Precision Trimmer: The Series 9 shavers have a built-in pop-up trimmer, allowing you to precisely trim and shape your sideburns, moustache, and eyebrows. It also helps you to create fine lines in your beard and hair for a stylish look.
What’s in the Box?
The Braun Series 9 Pro shavers have different packages for different models, depending on their price range. I will explain the differences between each model later on. However, all the packages have some common items:
- The shaver itself
- A small cleaning brush
- A charging cord
- A user manual
- A warranty card
Personal Experience
Braun Series 9 is my all time favorite for its sleek and elegant design that fits on my hand comfortably with a premium feel. The Pro shavers are even more refined shavers with robust built-quality that made with premium materials. Every model of Braun Series 9 Pro has a different aesthetic that allows the user choosing their preferred one. The new refined motor feels more powerful than the predecessors and they makes more micro-vibrations for faster shaving and cleaning. The autosense technology is not much practical since I found the shaver uses the top power all the time while shaving.
The new refined shaving elements are much useful to cut longer and flat-lying hairs and they surprised me with 5 days long beard shaving ability that I never experienced with a foil shaver before. So, I think the Series 9 pro shavers are ideal for those who occasionally shaves the beard. One common feature in all the premium shavers is the flexible shaving head and the Braun Series 9 pro flexes the head very smoothly to keep the shaving process more comfortable and flawless. The skin-guard and all the shaving elements are very soft on the facial skin the prevent the excessive pressure on the shaving strokes to prevent rushes and redness on the skin and keep the face safe from razor burn even on the sensitive skin. So, I always suggest Braun Series 9 and Series 9 pro shavers for super comfortable shaves if you have sensitive skin.
I tried the shaver for both wet and dry shaves and I never found a compromise the shaving capacity in any method.
I personally like the battery quality of the Series 9 pro shavers since they can provide one of the market’s highest battery backup facility with a full charge whereas the main competitor Panasonic Arc6 and Arc5 provide 45 minutes of cordless power and they slower the motor power while remaining 20% battery power. So, I’ll vote Braun Series 9 Pro over Panasonic’s one in terms of battery backup.
The LED display of Braun Series 9 Pro is another compelling feature that will beat other foil shavers while comparing. The most interesting feature to me in the LED display is, it count down the last 9 minutes of shaving power that provides me more accurate prediction how long I can shave further.
The precision pro trimmer is another improvement in the Braun Series 9 Pro shavers that does its job more accurately than predecessors since the blades of the Pro trimmer are harper and harder. My shaving and maintaining experience of Braun Series 9 Pro is excellent and I’ll definitely suggest the enthusiastic users to try it for close, comfortable, premium shaves and feel.
The Braun Series 9 Pro Models and Differences
Again, the main devices and the technologies of all the Braun Series 9 Pro shaver models are identical, but they have some differences in the items that come with different packages and some aesthetic differences between them. Let’s have a look at the speciality and differences of each model.
Braun Series 9 Pro 9477cc:
The Braun Series 9 Pro 9477cc is the most advanced model of the series, as it has all the pro items for the best electric shaving experience. It comes with a SmartCare dock that cleans, charges, dries, and lubricates the shaver automatically and makes it ready for the next use. The dock uses an alcohol-based solution to clean the shaver hygienically and keep it germ-free. Another special item that comes with this model is an innovative power case. The power case is used to protect the shaver from damage and store it in a safe way. It also has a bonus charging function, as it has a rechargeable battery that charges the shaver while it is inside the case. Moreover, you do not need to plug the shaver directly into the wall outlet, as you can connect the power case to the wall outlet with the charging cord and charge the shaver inside the power case in the safest way.
However, this is the priciest model as well, as it has more items than the others. It is suitable for you if you are ready to pay a large amount and want all the advanced items in the Braun Series 9 Pro shaver.
Braun Series 9 Pro 9465cc:
This is another advanced shaver with a matte graphite appearance, which is what we found in the predecessor Braun Series 9 9385cc’s aesthetic. It comes with a SmartCare center for automatic cleaning, charging, drying, and lubricating the shaver head. This model doesn’t come with a PowerCase, but it comes with a luxury travel pouch that is pretty hard to protect the shaver inside it. As a result, the price tag of this shaver is also lower than that of the 9477cc. If you are attached to the graphite look and do not need the power case and want to save some money, the Braun Series 9 Pro 9465cc is the shaver for you that will improve your shaving experience.
Braun Series 9 Pro 9460cc:
For a sleek and sophisticated look, you might want to consider the Braun 9460cc, the first black electric shaver in the Braun Series 9 and Braun Series 9 Pro range. This shaver is designed for those who prefer a black color over a silver or graphite one, and who appreciate a stylish and elegant appearance. As a CC model, it also has a SmartCare station that takes care of your shaver with five automatic functions: cleaning, lubricating, drying, charging, and selecting the cleaning program. The shaver comes with a travel bag that substitutes the latest PowerCase of the series, which makes it cheaper than the 9477cc model. Therefore, this model is an ideal option if you are attracted by the black color and don’t require the PowerCase.
Braun Series 9 Pro 9419s:
If you are a fan of gold-colored devices, you might want to check out the Braun 9419s, the only solo model in the Series 9 pro shavers. This shaver has a golden matte finish that gives it a luxurious and elegant look. Unlike the other models in the Series 9 pro range, it does not come with a cleaning and charging station, but with a charging stand that allows you to charge the shaver securely on your bathroom counter. It also comes with a travel pouch that helps you store the shaver safely when you are not using it or when you are traveling. As a solo model, it has the lowest price in the Braun Series 9 pro segment, making it more affordable and budget-friendly. However, you can still enjoy the same shaving performance and features as the other models in the Series 9 pro line, as they all have the same technical specifications and functions.
Verdict
Braun Series 9 Pro is an excellent choice of electric shavers for getting a smooth and comfortable shave, even on long and tough stubble. This premium series has a new layer of shaving efficiency, according to my test result. The price range may be high for some users, but the solo model of this series offers a chance to enjoy premium shaves at a lower cost. The advanced technology and features of this series make it appealing for shaving enthusiasts.
